Com um dos melhores inícios de filme que me lembro (devido a um diálogo), “Amantes Constantes” me foi uma bela surpresa. Não que eu esperasse pouco ou muito dele, esperava outra coisa. Tinha em minha mente algo organizado do tipo: filme histórico e muitas cenas de amor. Pensava, então, que essas coisas seriam o foco de toda a história. De uma certa forma são, só que servem mais de fios condutores. Na verdade, principal mesmo quase nada é. Não é dado muito peso a algo específico. Nem mesmo o casalzinho aí da foto pode ser chamado de protagonistas — pelo menos, não como se costuma ver —, até porque os outros personagens também não podem ser chamados de coadjuvantes. O filme é longo e tem um formato mais parecido com uma novela, com partes definidas, como em capítulos; é bom, porque é preto e branco, tem uma belíssima fotografia, mostra essa vontade que os jovens têm de mudar o mundo e revela o amor como combustível.
